Voor Tracing the Body, Chapter 2 nodigt Eva Spierenburg mede-kunstenaars Emmie Liebregts, Natalia Ossef en Jeltje Schuurmans uit om, samen met haar, te reageren op de uitkomst van Tracing the Body, Chapter 1. Dit eerste hoofdstuk, een indrukwekkende solopresentatie van Spierenburg, vond plaats op 10 en 11 september in Projectspace Lokaal. De tentoonstelling bij AG vertrekt vanuit een gedeelde interesse voor het lichamelijke en mentale functioneren van het individu in de wereld die ons omringt. Tracing the Body, Chapter 2 combineert de bijdrages van de vier kunstenaars met een nieuwe versie van de oorspronkelijke interactieve installatie van Spierenburg, waarbij vluchtige momentopnames uit de tekeningen van bezoekers van Chapter 1 zich in nieuwe kunstwerken nestelen.

Zowel Eva Spierenburg (1987), Natalia Ossef (1983) als Jeltje Schuurmans (1996) zijn alumni van HKU Fine Art. Emmie Liebregts (1996) studeerde aan Sint Joost, Breda. Sinds haar afstuderen in 2009 heeft Spierenburg’s kunstenaarschap een boeiende ontwikkeling doorgemaakt, met onder andere een tweejarige studieperiode aan de Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten en een groot aantal tentoonstellingen, onder meer in het Centraal Museum. Recentelijk werd haar de Koninklijke Prijs voor de Vrije Schilderkunst toegekend.

Tracing the Body, Chapter 1 en Chapter 2 vinden plaats in het kader van CareFull, een kunstroute door Utrecht en daarbuiten. Deze route, die loopt tot en met 30 oktober, verbindt kunstinstellingen en verrassende locaties binnen en buiten de stad. CareFull wordt georganiseerd door Stichting Art Utrecht, op uitnodiging van Gemeente Utrecht, als onderdeel van het culturele programma Utrecht 900.

For Tracing the Body, Chapter 2, Eva Spierenburg invites fellow artists Emmie Liebregts, Natalia Ossef and Jeltje Schuurmans to respond, with her, to the outcome of Tracing the Body, Chapter 1. This first chapter, an impressive solo presentation by Spierenburg, took place on September 10 and 11 at Projectspace Lokaal. The exhibition at AG departs from a shared interest in the physical and mental functioning of the individual in the world that surrounds us. Tracing the Body, Chapter 2 combines the contributions of the four artists with a new version of Spierenburg’s original interactive installation, in which fleeting notions from the drawings of visitors of Chapter 1 settle into new artworks.

Both Eva Spierenburg (1987), Natalia Ossef (1983) and Jeltje Schuurmans (1996) are HKU Fine Art alumni. Emmie Liebregts (1996) studied at Sint Joost, Breda. Since graduating in 2009, Spierenburg’s art practice has undergone a fascinating development, including a two-year study period at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten and a large number of exhibitions, including at the Centraal Museum. She was recently awarded the Royal Award for Modern Painting.

Tracing the Body, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 take place as part of CareFull, an art route through Utrecht and beyond. This route, which runs through October 30, connects art institutions and surprising locations inside and outside the city. CareFull is organized by Stichting Art Utrecht, at the invitation of the Municipality of Utrecht, as part of the cultural program Utrecht 900.
